A notary who actually listens.
I'm Matthew Knight — a Wichita-based notary public, commissioned by the State of Kansas, with a background in healthcare communication, chaplaincy, and immigration law. My day job is supporting people through the paperwork that moves their lives forward.
Most people only need a notary once or twice in their life, usually when something already stressful is going on: a move, an illness, a school deadline, an immigration filing. I show up on time, explain what I'm doing in the language you prefer, and make the visit feel as small and easy as it should be, to get you back to living your life.
Things people often ask.
A valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID (driver's license, state ID, passport, or permanent resident card) and the document you need notarized — unsigned. I'll watch you sign it during our appointment, as required by Kansas law.
No — and I'll always be upfront about that. I'm not an attorney. As a notary, I verify your identity and witness your signature; I can't advise on what a document means or whether it's right for your situation. If you need legal guidance, I'm happy to point you toward an attorney.
Yes — fully. Remote online notarization (RON) is offered alongside in-person and mobile appointments as a standard option, not an exception. We meet over a secure video session; bring a valid government ID and your unsigned document, and I'll guide you through the rest.
Send me a clear scan or photo of your document. I'll translate it Spanish↔English, certify the translation with a signed statement of accuracy, and deliver a digital copy plus a notarized hard copy. Turnaround is typically 2–5 business days depending on length.
Yes. I coordinate apostilles in three directions. Kansas-issued documents go directly through the Kansas Secretary of State. Documents from other US states, or from US federal agencies (like FBI background checks), go through the appropriate state or federal authority. For documents issued in another country, I coordinate with that country's competent authority. For example, a Mexican birth certificate being submitted in a US court proceeding — an adoption, a custody case, an estate matter — typically has to be apostilled by the Mexican state where it was registered. I can help arrange that, then translate and notarize the result on the US side.
